SHABWA, June 28 (YPA) – Staff of the Maternity and Childhood Department at Ataq General Hospital in Yemen’s oil-rich Shabwa province staged a protest on Sunday, demanding improved working and service conditions and warning of an imminent collapse in medical services.
Participants said the protest came after all dialogue with the hospital management and Saudi-backed local authorities failed to produce any tangible response to their demands in recent months.
Their demands include contract renewals, wage increases, and payment of overdue financial incentives. They warned that continued neglect could push the area’s only medical facility toward a complete shutdown.
The protesters held the Saudi-backed authorities fully responsible for any repercussions resulting from their continued failure to address the crisis.
They warned that deteriorating living and working conditions could lead to the suspension of essential medical services at the hospital.
