Largest US labor union divests from “Israel”

WASHINGTON, June 19 (YPA) – Delegates to the 39th Constitutional Convention of the United Auto Workers (UAW) in Detroit, Michigan, voted to divest from Israeli bonds during the convention held from June 15-18, 2026.

The resolution, passed Thursday, received 321 votes in favor and 287 against, making the union, which has approximately 400,000 members, the largest U.S. labor union to officially divest from Israel.

Reports indicate that the union has at least $400,000 invested in these bonds.

The vote was supported by various sectors within the union, including delegates from the Michigan auto industry and representatives from the legal services and higher education sectors.
