Oman, Iran reaffirm cooperation, maritime security in Hormuz Strait

MASCUT, June 16 (YPA) – Oman’s Foreign Minister, Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, affirmed their shared commitment to strengthening cooperation between the two neighboring countries.

In a meeting on Tuesday, the two officials stressed the importance of further developing relations across various fields, based on principles of good neighborliness and the historical and cultural ties linking the peoples of the region.

According to the Oman News Agency on Tuesday, the two ministers reiterated during a phone call, and in light of recent Iranian-American understandings, their countries’ commitment to international law regarding the safe and free passage of maritime navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.

They also expressed hope that the coming period would witness serious and sustained efforts by all parties to ensure a conducive environment for an effective and constructive political and diplomatic process, aimed at preserving regional security and stability.
