TEHRAN, June 14 (YPA) – Speaker of the Iranian Shura Council, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, said on Sunday that the latest Israeli occupation strike on Beirut’s southern suburbs raises questions about the implementation of commitments related to regional agreements and ceasefire arrangements.
In remarks posted on X, Ghalibaf argued that continued Israeli aggression indicate either a lack of willingness or an inability by the United States to ensure adherence to its obligations, adding that policies based on contrasting diplomatic and military approaches are no longer effective.
He maintained that ongoing violations undermine confidence in political and negotiating processes, saying meaningful progress is difficult while such actions continue.
His comments came after an Israeli airstrike targeted Ghobeiry area in Beirut’s southern suburbs, killing three people and injuring 15 others, according to Lebanese authorities.
The occupation strike occurred amid continuing tensions in Lebanon despite a ceasefire agreement that entered into force in mid-April, with both sides accusing each other of repeated violations.
