TEHRAN, June 08 (YPA) – Tehran has agreed to a ceasefire under new conditions, warning that any continuation of Israeli aggression or attacks in Lebanon—including southern Lebanon—could trigger a renewed and stronger Iranian response.
According to Tasnim News Agency on Monday, the ceasefire proposal was requested by the United States, a point that Iranian media linked to recent statements by U.S. President Donald Trump.
Tasnim said Iran had previously warned that Israeli aggression on Beirut would provoke a response from Iranian forces and allied groups.
The agency claimed that Tehran acted on those warnings by launching missile strikes against targets in the occupied territories of Palestine after Israeli strikes in Beirut’s southern suburbs.
The report further alleged that Iran responded to subsequent Israeli attacks with additional waves of strikes, rejecting a limited one-for-one exchange framework.
Separately, a senior Iranian security official told Al Mayadeen that recent U.S. statements distancing Washington from attacks on Iran did not reflect the realities on the ground, arguing that any escalation could involve U.S. interests and military facilities in the region.
Earlier, the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters announced a halt to military operations after carrying out what it described as a new round of strikes against strategic targets.
In a statement, the headquarters said the operations were conducted in response to Israeli actions in southern Lebanon and Beirut’s southern suburbs, while warning that any further escalation would be met with measures “more severe and forceful” than previous responses.
