Protests disrupt German Army Day over arms supplies to Israeli occupation

BERLIN, June 07 (YPA) – A protest rally was held in the German city of Unna during “German Army Day,” with protesters voicing opposition to Germany’s military cooperation with Israeli occupation, rejecting the continued export of weapons amid the ongoing genocidal war in Gaza.

In the rally, participants waved Palestinian flags and carried banners calling for an end to German arms sales to Israel.

Demonstrators also criticized Rheinmetall, accusing the defense manufacturer of benefiting from armed conflicts and demanding a halt to weapons production and deliveries destined for the occupation forces.

Despite the protests and attempts to disrupt the event, organizers proceeded with scheduled activities under heightened security measures.

They were part of a broader wave of activism across Germany, where recent months have seen protests and sit-ins targeting defense industry facilities and government policies related to arms exports.

Pro-Palestinian activists have also staged actions outside Rheinmetall sites, including blocking factory entrances and calling on the German government to suspend weapons shipments to Israeli occupation.
