UN warns over rising attacks on Gaza police facilities

GAZA, June 03 (YPA) – The UN Human Rights Office in the Occupied Palestinian Territory has reported a rise in Israeli occupation’s attacks targeting police facilities in the Gaza Strip.

In a statement posted on X on Wednesday, the office said it had documented at least 12 attacks on police stations and related facilities since January 2026.

According to the office, the incidents resulted in the deaths of at least 53 people, including police officers, children, displaced civilians, and detainees.

The statement warned that targeting police personnel solely for performing civilian law-enforcement duties could constitute a war crime under international law.

It also expressed concern over the continuing Israeli violence despite the ceasefire announced months ago, stating that there is no clear end to the ongoing loss of life, instability, and humanitarian suffering.

According to figures cited by the office, the number of people killed in Gaza since the ceasefire took effect on January 11 has reached 936, while 2,903 others have been injured.
