Hamas accuses Israeli occupation of violation Gaza truce, calls on meditators to intervene
GAZA, May 23 (YPA) – Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem on Saturday accused Israeli occupation of violating mediated agreements following a series of overnight airstrikes and military incursions in the Gaza Strip.
Qassem stated that the recent escalation, which included strikes on residential areas and the displacement of civilians, constitutes a “clear reversal” of understandings reached through international mediators.
According to the spokesman, the agreements stipulated the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces and a commitment to maintaining the status quo on the ground.
“These are not isolated violations, but rather a systematic escalation and a disregard for international guarantees,” Qassem said, adding that the actions exacerbate the ongoing blockade affecting over two million people in the strip.
The Palestinian faction called on the mediators and signatories of the Sharm El-Sheikh accords to take immediate action to halt the military operations and compel Israeli occupation to adhere to its commitments.
