OCCUPIED PALESTINE, May 23 (YPA) – Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported that officers and soldiers taking part in military operations have expressed confusion over the objectives of the war, saying it is unclear whether the political and military leadership is seeking a battlefield victory or a ceasefire agreement.
According to the testimonies, current operations in Lebanese villages have focused on destroying homes and residential infrastructure, without clear military gains on the ground.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah drones have become a major threat to Israeli forces, causing increasing injuries among soldiers.
Israeli reports also said officers have criticized US restrictions imposed by the Trump administration on targeting Beirut and the Bekaa region, arguing that these limits have led the Israeli army to intensify its strikes on southern border villages.
In the same context, Israel Hayom quoted senior officers as saying that the continued presence of Israeli forces inside Lebanese territory has “no purpose,” due to the lack of tangible battlefield results and the ongoing military stalemate.
