Fire engulfs facility inside Aden International Airport

ADEN, May 15 (YPA) – A massive fire erupted on Thursday evening inside Aden International Airport, sending thick plumes of smoke into the sky over the Khormaksar district, shortly after reports emerged about the expected return of Rashad Al-Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, to the city.

Eyewitnesses said flames were seen rising from one of the airport’s facilities, while firefighters rushed to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to sensitive locations inside the airport.

Airport authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the fire or the extent of the damage.

The incident comes amid reports that Al-Alimi is expected to return to Aden from Riyadh in the coming days.
