ADEN, May 13 (YPA) – Angry protesters on Tuesday evening blocked several main roads in Yemen’s southern city of Aden, denouncing the catastrophic collapse of electricity services in the city.
Video footage shared on social media show protesters blocking 90th Street in Al-Mansoura district, using burning tyres and stones.
They expressed outrage over power outages that have exceeded 13 consecutive hours following the shutdown of the electricity system due to fuel shortages.
The protests come amid expectations that public anger will spread in the coming hours to other areas of Aden.
The electricity crisis continues to worsen, leading to water shortages, amid what local sources describe as the failure of the Saudi-backed government to secure fuel supplies for power stations.
