HADRAMOUT, May 11 (YPA) – Saudi Arabia has officially begun implementing a strategy to dismantle the “Hadramout Tribal Alliance” by engineering new entities for several leaders within the alliance headed by “Amr bin Habrish al-Aliyi.”
Informed sources confirmed that Riyadh is in the process of establishing a new tribal component led by “Salem bin Malhi al-Sayari,” who recently defected from the Alliance.
This move comes as part of an effort to marginalize the Alliance and strip it of its effectiveness and financial privileges, especially following the full control of the “Dera Al-Watan and Emergency Forces” over the governorate.
Sources stated that the marginalization process came at the direct request of the Governor and member of the Leadership Council, “Salem al-Khanbashi,” to end the “Alliance’s blackmail” in exchange for integrating 300 of its militants into the “Public Security” forces.
Notably, these developments follow the fading of the Alliance’s demands—originally raised in mid-2024 against UAE-loyal authorities—and come after Saudi forces tightened their grip on Hadramout in late December, targeting the UAE-backed “Southern Transitional Council” factions with airstrikes following their incursion into the valley districts.
