SANAA, Aug. 6 (YPA) – Death toll from Sunday’s earthquake that hit Indonesia’s Lombok Island rose to 91, and hundreds of people were injured in additions to the destruction of thousands of buildings, the Indonesian disaster management agency said on Monday.
According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), it said that at least 37people dead as a result of a 7-magnitude earthquake at a depth of 10 km underground.
The earthquake, followed by two mild tremors and some 24 aftershocks, caused a state of panic among tourists and citizens on Lombok Island in the southern part of Indonesia, and it was felt by the residents in neighboring Bali Island.
The officials issued a warning of a tsunami after the earthquake, but it was later canceled.
