HADRAMOUT, May 07 (YPA) – Pro-Saudi forces detained on Thursday numerous supporters of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council at a military checkpoint, preventing their participation in a large-scale event in Sayoun, the provincial capital of Hadramout.
According to local sources, security personnel reinforced by pro-Islah Party’s forces operating in the First Military Zone blocked the passage of dozens of individuals traveling to Sayoun at the checkpoint in the Tarim district. Vehicles and buses transporting participants from the Tarim and Sah districts were stopped and denied access to the event site.
These actions, ordered by the leadership of the pro-Saudi forces, generated significant tension in the region.
The participants’ repeated attempts to pass the checkpoint in defiance of the military’s refusal led to severe traffic congestion and a complete standstill in the area.
Sources anticipate that the situation could escalate further due to the heightened tensions and the substantial military presence of Saudi-affiliated forces in Sayoun and along its access routes.
