IRGC warns US strike on Iran could trigger long-term regional conflict

TEHRAN, April 30 (YPA) – The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warned on Thursday that any potential U.S. strike on Iran could trigger a prolonged regional conflict, marking a further escalation in tensions between Tehran and Washington.

According to Iranian state media, Majid Mousavi, commander of the IRGC Air Force, said that even a limited American attack would be met with a “severe response,” including what he described as long-range and sustained strikes against U.S. positions in the region.

He added that Iran has already demonstrated its capability to target U.S. bases and warned that any future confrontation could also extend to U.S. naval assets in regional waters.

The remarks came in response to a report by Axios claiming that the United States is preparing contingency plans for short, high-intensity strikes against Iran, underscoring an accelerating cycle of mutual deterrent messaging.

The exchange unfolds amid heightened regional volatility, with growing concerns that continued escalation could push the situation toward open confrontation with broader regional consequences.
