UN: Ship traffic through the Strait of Hormuz drops by 95.3%

NEW YORK, April 29 (YPA) – The United Nations announced that ship traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has decreased by 95.3 percent since the war launched by the United States and Israel against Iran.

UN Secretary-General spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric said during the daily press briefing on Tuesday evening that data from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development indicates that vessel movement through the strait has declined by 95.3 percent since the outbreak of the war on February 28.

Dujarric added that the restrictions imposed on the strait have led to a 6 percent increase in the prices of basic food commodities, while crude oil prices for Europe have risen by 53 percent.
