Catastrophic deterioration in electricity services hit Aden

ADEN, April. 20 (YPA) – A catastrophic deterioration in electricity services hit Aden city and the suffering has intensified due to a severe heat wave hitting the city, which is under the control of forces loyal to Saudi Arabia.

The media officer at the “Ministry of Electricity” in Aden, Muhammad Al-Masbahi, revealed the start of peak loads exceeding 600 megawatts, and it is expected to rise to more than 700 megawatts, while the total available generation currently does not exceed 280 megawatts.

He indicated that the large gap between demand and production will turn into a catastrophic and prolonged crisis.

Al-Masbahi said, “The electricity service does not accept interpretation or embellishment; it either exists or it doesn’t.”

He added that the Ministry of Electricity has put in place emergency plans to reduce the worsening outages, but there is a clear delay in implementing immediate solutions by the Leadership Council and the Saudi Program, which has directly affected the level of service and contributed to the increased severity of outages with the arrival of peak summer loads.
