TEHRAN, April 19 (YPA) – The Navy of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Crop (IRGC) has announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz starting Saturday evening, continuing until the naval blockade is fully lifted.
According to a statement from the IRGC naval forces, as reported by Tasnim news agency, non-military vessels were allowed to pass through the Larak passage under IRGC Navy coordination following Iran’s announcement.
However, due to the continued naval blockade by the United States despite ceasefire terms being violated, the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed from tonight until the blockade ends.
The statement further warned all ships to remain anchored in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, cautioning that any vessel approaching the Strait of Hormuz will be considered as aiding the enemy and will be targeted.
Additionally, the Naval Forces urged all ship operators to follow updates exclusively through the official channels of the Revolutionary Guards Navy via Channel 16, dismissing any statements from the U.S. administration regarding the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf as invalid.
