ISLAMABAD, April 11 (YPA) – In a sensitive and complex diplomatic atmosphere, negotiations between Iranian and American delegations continue in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad. The talks are reportedly moving from general discussions to detailed technical-level consultations, amid growing international anticipation over their potential outcomes, in light of US obstruction and excessive demands.
Details of the Negotiations
According to the Tasnim News Agency, the negotiations between the Iranian and American delegations began before 17:30 Islamabad time (16:00 Iran time) on Saturday.
After an hour into the talks, due to entering detailed and technical discussions, expert teams joined the negotiations and since then, the negotiations have continued thus far at 21:00 Islamabad time.
The two delegations paused for a few minutes midway through the talks for consultation and a break, then resumed negotiations.
No news has yet been received regarding the conclusion of tonight’s negotiations, and it remains unclear whether the talks will be extended.
In a subsequent development, expert teams from both sides concluded several hours of direct discussions before the parties moved on to exchanging written texts related to the issues under consideration.
According to the agency, the negotiation process has now moved beyond general frameworks and has entered the stage of detailed technical discussions on several files.
Talks Still Ongoing
Tasnim also reported that the negotiations are still ongoing, with the Iranian side maintaining its position on preserving its military capabilities while emphasizing the need to safeguard the rights of the Iranian people.
The agency also quoted an informed source as saying that the Strait of Hormuz file is among the most significant issues of serious disagreement between the Iranian and American delegations.
The agency added that one phase of face-to-face negotiations between Iran and the United States has concluded, and the two delegations are currently exchanging written texts.
It also reported that the US delegation hindered progress with its usual excessive demands.
Meanwhile, Iranian state television reported that two rounds of talks have already been held between the negotiating delegations, with a third round scheduled for later tonight.
