ADEN, April 07 (YPA) – A senior figure in the dissolved Southern Transitional Council (STC), Fadl al-Jaadi, on Monday launched a sharp attack on what he described as the “tools of the 1994 war,” accusing them of deliberately inflicting severe harm on southern governorates, their people, and their cause.
In a post on the platform X (formerly Twitter), al-Jaadi said that what he called a “conspiracy” by these actors remains ongoing, accusing them of trying to plunge the south into prolonged violence and chaos.
His remarks were widely interpreted as a direct reference to Al-Islah Party and figures loyal to the late president Ali Abdullah Saleh, including the head of the Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad al-Alimi.
Al-Jaadi stressed that such efforts, regardless of their scale, would fail to break the will of the southern population or curb what he described as their legitimate aspirations for “final liberation” from forces he accused of long exploiting their resources.
He ended by affirming that the southern cause will ultimately prevail, saying these actors “will not be able to stop the course of history,” highlighting widening rifts among factions backed by Saudi Arabia.
His remarks come amid reports that Saudi Arabia has marginalized the STC, with dozens of its leaders allegedly placed under house arrest in Riyadh since being called there in early January, while figures linked to Al-Islah have been reassigned to southern governorates.
