Mild 2.8-magnitude earthquake shakes Nisab district in Shabwa province

DHAMAR, April 02 (YPA) – An earthquake was recorded early Thursday in the Nisab district, located west of Shabwa province, the Center for Monitoring and Study of Earthquakes and Volcanoes in Dhamar province reported.

Engineer Muhammad Hussein Mutahar Al-Houthi, head of the center, stated that monitoring stations recorded local seismic activity at 6:29 a.m. in the northwestern area of Nisab district, the official 26 September Net website reported.

The earthquake measured 2.8 magnitude on the Richter scale, classifying it as a “mild” tremor in the northwestern part of Nisab district, he explained.

He added that the technical team at the center is continuously monitoring seismic activity across various provinces in Yemen and the wider region.
