Hamas delegation arrives in Cairo for ceasefire talks

GAZA, April 02 (YPA) – A delegation from the leadership of Hamas movement, headed by Gaza leader Dr. Khalil al-Hayya, arrived in Cairo to follow up on the implementation of the ceasefire agreement and hold talks with Egyptian officials.

In a statement published Thursday on its Telegram channel, Hamas said the delegation immediately began meetings with mediators from Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey.

The group added that the delegation was also expected to hold consultations with leaders of Palestinian factions to coordinate unified national positions on key issues.

Over the past two days, the delegation, led by al-Hayya, held separate meetings in Ankara with Intelligence Chief Ibrahim Kalin and Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to discuss developments in Gaza and the West Bank, as well as alleged violations of the ceasefire agreement.

The statement said the discussions included updates on the number of casualties since the agreement took effect, as well as developments on the ground in Gaza.

The delegation also reviewed the latest progress in negotiations, stressing the importance of adhering to the terms of the Sharm el-Sheikh agreement, particularly commitments related to the first phase, and presented an overview of the humanitarian and security situation in the enclave.

In addition, the talks addressed the situation in occupied city of al-Quds and at Al-Aqsa Mosque, along with recent legislative measures in Israel concerning Palestinian prisoners, which Hamas warned could have serious implications.
