ADEN, March 29 (YPA) – The Saudi-backed Local authorities in Aden on Sunday targeted the UAE-funded Southern Transitional Council (STC), accusing it of attempting to destabilize the city and sow chaos.
In a statement, they said the closure of the STC’s headquarters was part of efforts to restore “state property” and enforce the law, denying any intent to suppress political activity or restrict freedoms.
The authorities also warned against what they described as “suspicious” calls and vowed to respond firmly to any planned protests.
The move follows the STC’s call for supporters to hold a demonstration in Tawahi on Wednesday, protesting the ongoing closure of its headquarters amid escalating tensions since the STC’s dissolution and the restructuring of its factions.
