HADRAMOUT, March 25 (YPA) – Saudi-backed forces on Tuesday carried out an unprecedented military campaign in the districts of Wadi Hadramout in eastern Yemen, confiscating weapons from civilians and destroying them using electric saws.
A local source familiar with the matter said the campaign targeted several areas across the valley districts, where forces seized weapons from residents amid heavy military deployment and strict security measures.
The source added that the operation included cutting up civilians’ weapons in the streets with electric saws, raising widespread questions about the motives and objectives behind the campaign.

According to the source, the measures come amid escalating tensions between factions opposed to the presence of the “Dera Al-Watan” and emergency forces in Hadramout.
The campaign is believed to aim at limiting the capabilities of any group that could pose potential resistance to Saudi influence in the province, particularly those aligned with the Southern Transitional Council.
The campaign comes after the recent deployment of additional “Dera Al-Watan” and emergency forces loyal to the Presidential Leadership Council chief Rashad Al-Alimi in the oil-rich districts of Wadi Hadramout over the past two days.
