Khamenei: Maintaining closure of Strait of Hormuz is necessary; US bases remain targets

TEHRAN, March 12 (YPA) – The Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, Sayyid Mojtaba Khamenei, stated on Thursday in a message to the Iranian people that maintaining the closure of the Strait of Hormuz is “necessary,” warning that Tehran will “open other fronts” if required.

In his address, Khamenei emphasized that Iran remains committed to retaliating for its fallen personnel, asserting that “the revenge for the blood of the martyrs will not be abandoned.”

Regarding regional tensions, he noted that while Iran values friendship with neighboring countries, it is “compelled” to continue targeting US bases in the region, citing that attacks against Iran have originated from those facilities.

Khamenei labeled US bases in the region as legitimate targets, advising neighboring nations to close them to maintain control over their own territories.

He commended the coordination between components of the “Resistance Front”—specifically praising the roles of Yemen, Hezbollah, and the Iraqi resistance—stating that such cooperation accelerates the end of “Zionist sedition.”

The Iranian leader called for a massive and “foe-breaking” turnout for Quds Day marches, describing active public presence as a strategic necessity.
