BEIRUT, March 12 (YPA) -Dozens of people were killed and wounded early Thursday in fresh Israeli airstrikes targeting Lebanon, including the capital Beirut. The strikes come amid continued bombardment of southern Lebanon and Beirut’s southern suburbs, while Hezbollah announced the launch of an operation called “Al-Asf Al-Ma’koul” in response to the ongoing Israeli aggression.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that 8 people were killed and 31 others injured in an Israeli strike that targeted the Ramlet al-Baida area on Beirut’s coast.
Hundreds of displaced people had been taking temporary shelter on the Ramlet al-Baida beach, which borders Beirut’s southern suburbs, after receiving Israeli evacuation orders to leave their homes in the suburbs and in southern Lebanon.
In a related development, Lebanese sources reported that an Israeli strike targeted a residential apartment in the Aramoun area of Mount Lebanon, though no Israeli comment was issued regarding the attack.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that 3 people were killed and a child was injured in the Israeli strike on Aramoun.
In addition, two people were killed and six others wounded in an Israeli strike that targeted the town of Deir Antar in the Bint Jbeil district of southern Lebanon, according to the official news agency.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health also said another Israeli strike on the town of Burj al-Shemali in the Tyre district in southern Lebanon killed four people and injured nine others.
According to Lebanese Health Minister Rakan Nassereddine, the ongoing Israeli attacks on Lebanon over the past several days have left more than 630 people killed, including 91 children, and over 1,586 injured. The toll is expected to rise as the airstrikes continue.
After midnight, the Israeli occupation military carried out intense airstrikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut.
The occupation army claimed it targeted 10 Hezbollah sites in the area, according to its claim.
On Wednesday evening, the Lebanese Ministry of Health reported 17 people injured in Israeli strikes targeting the southern suburbs of the capital.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah continued attacks on Israeli military targets.
Air-raid sirens sounded across large parts of the Tel Aviv metropolitan area and central Israel, as well as the southern coastal plain and the northern city of Haifa, amid what was described as a dual bombardment from Iran toward central Israel and from Hezbollah toward northern areas.
On Wednesday, Hezbollah said it had launched a series of missile and drone attacks under the name “Operation Al-Asf Al-Ma’koul”, targeting Israeli settlements, sites, military bases, and troop concentrations.
