TAIZ, March 12 (YPA) – Saudi Arabia seized several military positions on Wednesday that had been under the control of Tariq Saleh, a pro-UAE member of the Presidential Leadership Council, in the western areas of Taiz Governorate.
Media sources confirmed that the Saudi military representative in Aden, Falah al-Shahrani, arrived in the city of Mocha in recent hours to take over military positions previously held by Emirati forces on Yemen’s western coast.
The sources stated that al-Shahrani held a meeting with several commanders loyal to Saleh and briefed them on the Saudi military redeployment plan in the coastal areas overlooking the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
The sources indicated that the takeover of the Emirati military positions is part of broader Saudi arrangements currently underway in areas controlled by Tariq Saleh’s forces, in preparation for handing them over to the Salafist “Dera Al-Watan” forces after Eid al-Fitr.
