Iran targets USS Abraham Lincoln, US and British oil tankers

TEHRAN, March 02 (YPA) – Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared on Sunday that the U.S. aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln was targeted by four ballistic missiles.

The IRGC described the operation as a direct response to what it termed American and Israeli aggressions.

According to an official IRGC statement, the strike hit its designated targets, though no details were provided regarding damage or casualties.

The U.S. has not immediately commented on the strike or its results.

Drone Downing

Alongside the announcement, Iranian military media released video footage showing the downing of an American MQ-9 Reaper drone, seen as an escalation against U.S. reconnaissance operations in the region.

Attacks on Oil Tankers

The IRGC also reported targeting three American and British oil tankers in the naval operational area, without specifying locations.

Analysts warn that such attacks could disrupt global energy supplies, particularly in strategic corridors of the Gulf and Arabian Sea.

Observers note that including commercial vessels as targets marks a shift from strictly military strikes to broader economic and strategic pressure.

Threats of Escalation

In related remarks, Ali Larijani, secretary-general of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, warned that the U.S. and Israel would face an unprecedented response, indicating that any retaliation would trigger an even greater escalation.

His statements came hours after the missile strikes, signaling Tehran’s intent to raise the political and military stakes while sending a deterrent message to Washington and Israel enemy.
