Iran: Muscat talks “positive” despite temporary halt and trust challenges

TEHRAN, Feb. 06 (YPA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi described the recent round of indirect talks with the United States in Oman as “positive,” confirming a general agreement to continue negotiations despite the Foreign Ministry’s announcement of a “temporary” pause.

Araghchi noted that the talks represent a “new beginning” aimed at securing the rights of the Iranian people, while acknowledging that “deep-seated mistrust” remains the primary challenge. He added that maintaining this trajectory could lead to a clearer framework in future sessions.

Meanwhile, Iranian state television reported that this round was characterized by seriousness and a faster pace than previous ones, involving the exchange of messages and proposals via Omani mediation, with the possibility of discussions extending over several days.
