OCCUPIED PALESTINE, Feb. 05 (YPA) – The Palestinian Center for Studies on Prisoners reported on Thursday that 26 Palestinians in Israeli prisons are suffering from various forms of cancer, with their lives at imminent risk.”
According to the center, the Israeli authorities provide them only with painkillers, denying access to proper medical treatment.
The center warned that cancer patients in Israeli prisons face a “slow death” due to the severity of their conditions and the lack of adequate care, compounded by harsh detention conditions.
“These prisoners endure a double suffering—battling a serious, painful disease that may leave them little time to live, while also enduring the harsh realities of imprisonment,” the center said.
It stressed that cancer is the leading cause of death among Palestinian prisoners, with many fatalities resulting from deliberate medical neglect. Before October 7, prisoners who succumbed to the disease reportedly received only painkillers and were denied transfer to civilian hospitals for appropriate treatment.
