WHO calls for 3-day halt to fight in Yemen

SANAA , Aug. 3 (YPA) – The World Health Organization (WHO) on Friday called for three-day truce between the parties of conflict in Yemen to allow a nationwide vaccination campaign against cholera in northern Yemen, according to WHO statement.

Director of the WHO’s emergency response unit,Peter Salama, said, “We call on all parties to the conflict to calm down for three days to allow us to vaccinate civilians against cholera.”

The United Nations confirmed earlier on Friday that “the hospital, which was targeted by coalition aircraft on Thursday in the city of Hodeidah, the Yemeni depend on the treatment of cholera.”

The United Nations said targeting hospitals in Hodeidah with raids was appalling, stressing that “these raids undermine our efforts to reduce the effects of cholera.
