GAZA, Jan. 19 (YPA) – Hamas movement has called on the international community and the United Nations to break their silence and take immediate action to halt the systematic abuse and “inhumane conditions” faced by more than 9,300 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli occupation jails.
In an official statement released Monday, the movement asserted that footage broadcast by Hebrew media depicting brutal torture represents a “brazen defiance” of international law and constitutes a full-fledged crime against humanity.
Furthermore, Hamas emphasized that prisoners—including thousands held under administrative detention without charge—are being subjected to deliberate starvation, medical negligence, and total isolation from the outside world.
In light of these developments, the movement’s primary demands include holding Israeli occupation leaders accountable in international courts for crimes against humanity, and compelling the Israeli occupation to grant international humanitarian bodies unrestricted access to prisons in accordance with the Geneva Conventions.
The movement urged Arab, Islamic, and global organizations to launch pressure campaigns to end the suffering of prisoners and secure their immediate release.
