ADEN, Jan. 16 (YPA) – A 3.1-magnitude earthquake struck on Friday off the coast of Aden, south of Yemen, according to Dhamar-based Center for Monitoring and Studying Earthquakes and Volcanoes.
The head of the monitoring center, Engineer Mohammed Al-Houthi, stated that the center’s stations regularly detect numerous minor seismic activities in the Gulf of Aden and neighboring areas, noting that monitoring stations identified the epicenter approximately 20 kilometers south of Aden’s coastline.
He added that the center continues to closely monitor the situation through its network of stations distributed across the region.
The incident follows another minor earthquake detected on Thursday at 1:08 p.m., when the center recorded a 2.4-magnitude tremor centered in areas northwest of Dhamar province.
