STC leader flees Aden, arrives in Abu Dhabi

ADEN, Jan. 08 (YPA) – Saudi Arabia revealed on Thursday the fate of Aidarous al-Zubaidi, head of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), after he escaped a Saudi ambush targeting him at Aden International Airport.

A spokesperson for the Saudi-led coalition said that “intelligence information indicates that al-Zubaidi and others fled from Aden port to the Somaliland region.”

He added: “Aidarus al-Zubaidi fled with others after midnight on January 7 and arrived at Berbera port in the afternoon.”

The spokesperson confirmed that “al-Zubaidi and his companions boarded a plane that landed in Mogadishu before departing to Al-Reef Military Airport in Abu Dhabi.”
