ADEN, Jan. 08 (YPA) -Sources familiar with the Riyadh meetings reported that Saudi Arabia has appointed a new official to oversee military and security affairs in the city of Aden.
The sources stated that Saudi Arabia tasked Abu Zar’a al-Mahrami, a Salafist leader who commands the Giants Forces ( Al-Alamiqa Forces) , with overseeing Aden’s military and security management during the current period.
The sources explained that Al-Mahrami has begun preparations in Aden for the arrival of the Saudi-backed “Dera Al-Watan” forces, ensuring that these factions do not face any resistance from UAE-backed pockets.
They added that units from the Al-Amaliqa Brigades carried out a deployment operation across Aden, taking control of military camps, security centers, ports, Aden Airport, and government civilian headquarters.
Meanwhile, the Aden Security Committee announced a curfew from 9:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m., noting that the curfew will remain in effect until further notice.
Sources also indicated that the Saudi side fears that the “Dera Al-Watan” forces could face resistance, as UAE-backed factions have been distributing weapons within Aden, alongside veiled threats from leaders in the STC and Abu Dhabi to escalate the “terrorism card” following the UAE’s removal from eastern Yemeni areas by Saudi-backed forces.
Earlier today, Rashad Al-Alimi, head of the Saudi-backed Presidential Leadership Council, has announced the removal of Aidarous Al-Zubaidi from the membership of Council and referred him to the public prosecutor on charges of high treason.
According to the sources, Al-Alimi accused Al-Zubaidi of committing acts of high treason, harming military, political, and economic centers, forming armed gangs, carrying out killings of officers and soldiers, and exploiting the just southern cause while committing grave violations against civilians.
