Venezuelan Government: We demand proof that Maduro, his wife are alive

CARACAS, Jan. 03 (YPA) – Venezuela’s vice president said, on Saturday, that the government does not know the whereabouts of President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, after the United States announced their capture and removal from the country.

In a statement to stae television, Maduro’s vice president, Delcy Rodriguez, added that the Venezuelan government “demands proof that Maduro and his wife are alive,” considering what happened a dangerous escalation and a violation of national sovereignty.

This stance comes after US President Donald Trump announced that the United States had carried out a “large-scale strike” against Venezuela, which he said resulted in the capture of Maduro and his wife and their removal by air from the country.

Trump also confirmed that the operation was carried out in coordination with US law enforcement agencies and announced his intention to hold a press conference to present the details.
