HADRAMOUT, Dec. 31 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) has denied reports that its forces are withdrawing from Hadramout and Mahra provinces in eastern Yemen.
In a post on X, STC spokesman Mohamed al-Naqeeb rejected what he called “rumors and misinformation” being spread by certain media outlets, including Al‑Hadath and Al‑Arabiya.
نجدد النفي القاطع صحة ما يتم تداوله من شائعات وأكاذيب عبر بعض القنوات والشبكات والمطابخ الإعلامية، وعلى رأسها قناتا الحدث والعربية.

He added that the STC forces are on high alert and firmly deployed across all positions in Hadramout and Mahra, covering all directions as part of the “Future Alert” operation.
Al‑Naqeeb emphasized that the STC is closely monitoring and prepared to confront any hostile movements by groups he labeled as “militias and terrorist organizations of the Muslim Brotherhood and Al-Qaeda,” referring to Saudi-backed factions in Hadramout and Mahra.
Earlier, Hadhramaut Governor Salem al-Khanbashi, loyal to Saudi Arabia, had announced that an agreement had been reached with UAE‑backed factions to withdraw from Hadramout within the coming hours.
