Astronomer ‘Al-Shawafi’ warns of frost waves striking Yemen in early January

SANAA, Dec. 31 (YPA) – The Yemeni astronomer and astrophysics expert, Adnan Al-Shawafi, has issued a warning regarding a severe cold spell set to sweep across the country in the coming days.

He anticipates a gradual and significant drop in minimum temperatures, falling well below seasonal averages.

Al-Shawafi explained that “Yemen will be impacted by two consecutive frost waves during the first ten days of January 2026.” He noted that this climatic development could be the most severe of the year, particularly affecting mountainous regions, high plateaus, and inland deserts.

The international expert urged all citizens, especially farmers, to exercise maximum caution and prepare for the biting cold to protect agricultural crops and avoid potential health or material damage.
