RIYADH, Dec. 30 (YPA) – The Saudi Council of Ministers issued a formal call on Tuesday evening for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to withdraw its forces from Yemen within 24 hours.
This urgent demand follows a direct request from Rashad al-Alimi, the President of “the Presidential Leadership Council,” loyal to the Saudi-led coalition.
In an urgent statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the Cabinet expressed its hope that the UAE would comply with this 24-hour deadline and immediately cease all military and financial support for the Southern Transitional Council (STC), as well as any other factions within Yemen. The Cabinet emphasized that such steps are essential to maintaining the bilateral relations that the Kingdom remains keen to strengthen.
The Saudi Cabinet also voiced its deep regret over the recent escalations in eastern Yemen, noting that the deteriorating situation contradicts previous assurances and promises received by the Kingdom from the UAE.
Following the session, Minister of Information Salman bin Yousef Al-Dosari clarified in a statement to SPA that “Saudi Arabia will not hesitate to take all necessary measures to counter any threats to its national security.”
Al-Dosari further reaffirmed the Kingdom’s unwavering commitment to Yemen’s security, stability, and sovereignty, reiterating full support for the Presidential Leadership Council’s president and “the internationally recognized government.”
