Bin Burik: Al-Alimi’s political legitimacy has ended; declaration of Southern state is closer than ever

ADEN, Dec. 30 (YPA) – Major General Ahmed Said bin Burik, Vice President of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), asserted that the political and moral legitimacy of the President of the Presidential Leadership Council (loyal to Saudi-led coalition), Rashad Al-Alimi, has effectively ended.

Bin Burik described recent decrees and statements issued by Al-Alimi as “detached from reality” and irrelevant to serious national action. He noted that the recent attack on the city of Mukalla reflects a dangerous imbalance in political and security decision-making, emphasizing that the security of Hadramout and the South remains a “red line” that Southern forces would defend with firm resolve.

He stated that the current stage demands decisive action, revealing that the STC is in the process of re-evaluating partnerships with parties that have proven incompetent or negligent. He argued that these partnerships have become a “national burden” that fails to protect the people or preserve sovereignty.

Furthermore, Bin Burik disclosed that the STC possesses “heavyweight” political leverage and undisclosed data that, if revealed, would expose networks of corruption and entities profiting from the prolonged crisis and the looting of Hadramout’s resources.

The STC’s vice president concluded by affirming that the choice to restore “a fully sovereign Southern State” has been finalized, noting that the popular mandate for the leadership under Aidarous Al-Zubaidi continues to grow in response to the failures of the so-called “legitimacy.” He stressed that the South is moving steadily toward independence, undeterred by external pressures or political maneuvers, stating that the declaration of the state is now “closer than ever.”
