GAZA, Dec. 30 (YPA) – The Director of Health Programs at the Palestinian Red Crescent Society in Gaza, Bashar Murad, stated that the spread of hepatitis (A) represented a clear indicator of drinking water contamination.
He noted that around 80% of water networks were damaged due to the systematic Israeli destruction of services and infrastructure in Gaza, forcing families to rely on water delivery.
Murad added that laboratory tests of the water samples revealed the presence of viruses and bacteria that caused gastrointestinal infections.
Displacement areas witnessed widespread outbreaks of gastrointestinal diseases and influenza, especially among children, as a result of overcrowding, severe cold, and environmental pollution.
