Hezbollah condemns desecration of Quran in US, holds Washington responsible for “fueling hatred”
BEIRUT, Dec. 19 (YPA) – Lebanon’s Hezbollah condemned in the strongest terms, in a statement issued this Thursday, the desecration of the Holy Quran by an individual in the United States, describing the act as a “shameful crime” and a blatant assault on Muslim sanctities and human values.
Hezbollah stated that “racist culture” and hate speech in the West, incited by successive U.S. administrations and Zionist lobbies, are the primary causes emboldening extremists to commit such acts.
The statement emphasized that Washington’s failure to take action against the perpetrators under the pretext of “freedom of expression” proves it provides full cover for these practices, which aim to ignite conflict between peoples.
Hezbollah stressed that this act is not an isolated incident but is driven by “global arrogance” powers seeking to weaken the moral and value system represented by Islam.
Concluding its statement, Hezbollah called on the Arab and Islamic nations—including peoples, leaders, and religious authorities—to launch the widest campaign of condemnation and take a firm stance against the violation of sanctities to protect global peace and prevent the spread of hatred.
