KUWAIT, Dec. 07 (YPA) – Kuwait has revoked the citizenship of Islamic preacher and Muslim Brotherhood leader Tareq al-Suwaidan by an Emiri decree issued on Sunday.
The order also extended to any dependents who obtained their citizenship through him.
The decision was made upon the recommendation of the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, approved by the Cabinet, and signed also by the Emir, Sheikh Mishal al-Ahmad al-Sabah.
The decree did not specify the legal grounds for this action. However, Kuwaiti authorities have previously stated that citizenship can be withdrew in cases involving fraud, criminal activity, or threats to Kuwait security.
