Saudi military moves raise concern in Aden amid tension with STC

ADEN, Dec. 06 (YPA) – Sources from Aden province, south of Yemen, said on Saturday the beginning of emergency military movements of Saudi troops stationed in the city of Aden, controlled by factions of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC).

The sources said that the Saudi forces have begun to transport their personnel and equipment from their camp in the Brega area to undeclared destinations outside the city, which raised a state of concern among citizens.

Some sources familiar on the matter suggested that these moves came in the context of escalating tension between the Saudi side and the STC’s factions, against the background of reports about Saudi demands to withdraw the STC forces from the provinces of Hadramout and Mahra in eastern Yemen, after those factions have taken control of them recently.

This development comes in conjunction with news of the outbreak of new battles in the Hadramout Valley between pro-Saudi parties and the STC.

It is noteworthy that a Saudi military delegation had arrived in Hadramout, calling on the UAE-backed factions to leave the province. However, these factions ignored the Saudi demands and turned to control the province of Mahra.
