TAIZ, Nov. 30 (YPA) – The domestic gas crisis continues for the third consecutive month in areas of Taiz Governorate under the control of the coalition.
Local sources reported that citizens are complaining about the shortage of domestic gas, the inability to obtain gas cylinders at the official price, and the price hikes in some rural areas to levels exceeding citizens’ purchasing power.
Taiz Governorate has witnessed angry protests in recent periods demanding that the government provide their share of domestic gas and ensure fair distribution. However, the demands of the citizens of Taiz have not received any response from the coalition-backed government.
Residents of Taiz accuse the local authorities and the government-affiliated gas company of colluding with influential figures and being behind the monopolization of domestic gas, indicating that these influential figures deliberately obstruct the transfer of Taiz’s share of gas.
It is worth noting that areas of Yemen under coalition control are experiencing unprecedented economic instability and a decline in living standards due to high prices, power and water outages, and other disruptions, in addition to the security vacuum and infighting among factions loyal to the coalition countries.
