HADRAMOUT, Nov. 30 (YPA) – The first wave of direct and intense confrontations erupted on Sunday in Hadramout governorate (eastern Yemen) between factions of the Saudi-backed “Hadramout Tribal Alliance” and forces loyal to the UAE (the Second Military Region).
Local sources reported that the clashes focused on the attempts by the UAE-backed forces to recapture positions they lost yesterday to the “Hadramout Protection” factions of the Tribal Alliance, after the latter seized oil production fields and the “Petromasila” company in the oil plateau.
The sources indicated that the fighting took place in areas like “Wadi al-Adaoos” and “Wadi Adam,” resulting in several deaths and wounded on both sides. The UAE-backed forces, however, failed to achieve any significant progress on the oil plateau.
Both sides are continuing to send military reinforcements, signaling an anticipated escalation of combat operations in the region. They, both parties, view these confrontations as a “battle of destiny” that will determine the power that fully controls the oil-rich governorate.
