Palestinian Center reveals journalist subjected to rape, sexual torture in Israeli prisons

GAZA, Nov. 30 (YPA) – The Palestinian Journalists’ Protection Center (PJPC) on Sunday revealed that a Palestinian journalist was subjected to a horrific crime of rape and sexual torture by a trained dog inside the Israeli “Sde Teiman” detention center.

The PJPC stated in a release that the journalist, identified only as “Yahya” to protect his family’s safety, was assaulted along with seven other detainees in an isolated area of the camp. The crime took place in the presence of Israeli occupation soldiers, some of whom documented the incident and mocked the victims.

The crime, which the Center described as one of the most serious documented violations, resulted in the journalist suffering severe psychological trauma that caused him to lose his mental balance for over two months. These symptoms are consistent with acute stress and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), according to the assessment of doctors and human rights experts.

Journalist “Yahya,” who was arrested while covering the raid on Al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza on March 18, 2024, confirmed that this assault was not an isolated incident but part of a “systematic torture policy” that utilizes dogs as a direct torture weapon, in flagrant violation of international conventions.
