ADEN, Nov. 25 (YPA) – A leader of the UAE-funded Security Belt factions survived on Tuesday an assassination attempt in the city of Aden, which is under the control of the coalition in southern Yemen.
Local sources familiar with the matter in the city said that unknown gunmen believed to belong to the elements of the Pro-UAE Southern Transitional Council’s military wing in Dhalea province shot the commander of the “security belt” in the central region of Abyan province, “Abdullah Abu Arab”, on Monday while passing in the new city of Inma in the Brega region with one of his escorts.
The sources explained that “Abu Arab “was injured as a result of the assassination attempt, without official confirmation by the leadership of the” security belt” in Aden, about the fate of the leader, who was transferred to a hospital for treatment.
The attempt to assassinate “Abu Arab” came after his refusal last August to distribute elements of the “security belt” from Aden in the central districts of Abyan, especially in Lawder district, following the agreement to open the Aqaba-Thura Road linking Bayda and Abyan province.
