Afghanistan vows to respond to Pakistani attack

KABUL, Nov. 25 (YPA) – Afghan’s government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid declared on Tuesday that his country would respond in the “necessary” and timely manner to the Pakistani attack that killed 9 children and a woman.

In a post on the “X”, Mujahid described the Pakistani attacks on the Afghan provinces of Paktika, Khost and Kunar as a direct assault on sovereignty and a clear violation of internationally recognized standards and principles.

“Pakistan’s hostile actions achieve nothing; they only prove that operations conducted on the basis of false intelligence are fueling tensions,” he said.

Mujahid stressed that “the defense of Afghan airspace is a legitimate right“.

This comes at a time when the two countries witnessed a cautious calm amid the collapse of peace talks between them, which took place earlier this month in Istanbul.

The common border between the two countries witnessed violent clashes between the two armies last month, resulting in dozens of deaths, in one of the bloodiest confrontations since the Taliban returned to power in Kabul in 2021.
