Homeland Shield recruits attack tribal Sheikh in Mahra

MAHRA, Nov. 19 (YPA) – Tribal Sheikh Amroun bin Arshi was subjected to an armed attack on Wednesday by Saudi-backed “Homeland Shield” factions in Al-Mahra Governorate, eastern Yemen.

A well-informed local source said that a military vehicle belonging to Homeland Shield, carrying nine armed men, intercepted Sheikh bin Arshi’s car in the Hasween district as he was returning from Al-Ghaydah, the governorate’s capital.

The source added that the armed men stopped bin Arshi in the middle of the main road in a provocative manner and directed threats at him that were offensive to his social standing in the governorate.

The incident of intercepting Sheikh bin Arshi by Homeland Shield elements was met with widespread condemnation and denunciation among the sheikhs of Al-Mahra tribes, who considered these practices a serious violation that threatens security and social peace in Al-Mahra.

Statements issued by the people of Al-Mahra called on the local authorities affiliated with the coalition to conduct an urgent investigation into the incident and hold those involved accountable to ensure that such violations targeting the dignity of citizens are not repeated.
